Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. - 2 Corinthians 9:7
We share different opinions in matter of giving God or giving an offering. Some people on hearing the word “offering” they don’t have the sense they are giving to God. They think that they give man and they see the personality of that man serving God, in their sight if that man is a recognized big God servant then they give more, in their sight if that man is a very small servant of God they give a very small offering and sometimes they never give. Some say an offering should not be demanded while others say an offering can be demanded. Some families even quarrel about to whom they should give, to which ministry or to which servant of God. To some people if any servant of God spells his need for his ministry they immediately say they are just asking for money and it is not in line with the liking of God. While others say If God has given a call to serve his ministry he will meet the needs and one need not ask. I am unaware about your ideas and how it differs. Let us dwell into the word of God and see what it preaches .God did not design any plan to propagate his word or his Ministerial needs and he did not encourage any giving. God’s design was that you gain wisdom from his word and offer your goodness in return. If you give God you will receive blessings in abundance from Him. “And thou shalt keep the feast of weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee”: (Deut 16:10) “Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty: Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee”.(Deut 16:16-17) “There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself ”.(Pro 14:24-25)
Whenever you give God or make an offering to God that gives you the greatest opportunity for you to show your love for God. Do you know how God has designed the plan of giving Him?
Whenever you are giving an offering to God he makes it function like sowing a seed. If you sow a seed with good faith and intention you will reap in bounty. “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully”.(2Cor 9:6) “Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness”;(2Cor 9:10) Doing ministry is an excellent way to receive money from the people and preachers use The Bible for their own benefits(for offering), this evil thought has been sown by the Devil into the mind of the Servants of God these days. Remember without your money and offerings God is able to run a ministry and equip the believers. It’s God’s ministry and so He is able to lead his ministry in a miraculous way. God only introduced the plan of giving him. And God made this plan for your good and your countless blessings. So whenever you are making an offering for Gospel Work, The Church its Mission or Ministry you are sowing a seed. And by Faith you will reap hundred folds. Sometimes you may have had some bitter experiences giving God and You may have stopped giving God. You may do this because you have seen your money being spent in different wrong ways. When you give God please remember you give Him and not His servant or Man. So you sow the seed in God’s kingdom. And you will receive the bountiful blessings for your part of giving. After you decide to give the money to God, and then remember it is not your money, it’s God’s money. The man who misuses that money is misusing God’s money. So he is perfectly accountable to God. So remember you are giving God for your good and blessings. “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister”.(Heb 6:10)
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. - Hebrews 13:16
